HISTORY:

This ranch was in the Wardlaw family for over 70 years. The Wardlaw ranching operation in this area covered around 44,000 acres and at one time carried the Wing V brand.

LOCATION & ACCESS:

The ranch is located approximately 25 miles SW of Rocksprings in western Edwards County. It is 40 miles north of Lake Amistad with its world class fishing. Access is via a private, all-weather easement road about 4 miles west of US 377. This easement is used by adjoining ranches, but there is no through traffic.

HEADQUARTERS:

The headquarters has a good, ranchy feel to it. It consists of a wonderful old ranch house built from native rock, surrounded by a fence of the same rock. The chimney has a special touch to it with stalactites from an area cave at the top of it. There are 3 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms; a great room (living/dining combined) with a rock fireplace, unique tile floor and pine tongue and groove ceiling; screened-in porch with a wood stove; and a detached garage. The electricity has been totally rewired, the plumbing is all new, part of the roof is new and central air and heat has been installed. Just behind the main house is a charming 1 bedroom/1 bath rock guest house with a sleeping porch and fireplace. The other outbuildings include a neat old commissary; a shearing barn; a large hay barn; a tool shed/tack room; a shop with walk-in cooler; a good set of pipe and bull wire working pens with cutting and loading chutes; and a newly remodeled mobile home.
